i got an 05 toyota tacoma for for my fist car. about how much will it cost me to lift it up about 2 inches? and can any mechanic do it? oh and will it mess anything up? like shox?
A: Depends on the type lift?
A body lift would be easier and cheap(er) if you are going 2" and will allow for bigger tires. The cost of the body lift is about $150.00 I'd just go ahead and do 3" since they make 2", and 3" body lifts.
I paid 150.00 for my lift on a 1999 Tacoma. (I now have a stock 2005 Tacoma)
A suspension lift would be more expensive, but it will get the frame of the truck higher off the ground 2". It will cost around $1,250.00
As for labor, you will need to find a place that 4x4 off road work
if you are going body lift. Most big name brand shops don't fool with body lifts. I did 3 body lifts on Toyota Tacomas, Labor is about 6-7 hours.
As for the suspension lift, some Auto shops do them.
But they'll only do them if you buy the parts from them.
Labor is the same for a suspension also.Around 7 hours.
Q: Where can I find a front drivers side seat for a 98 toyota tacoma?
I have a 98 Toyota tacoma and I have been searching for ages for a new front drivers side seat. Can anyone tell me where the best place to find one would be or point me in the direction of one? Would the seats from a 96, 97, 99, 2000 tacoma fit the car? I really need to find this seat fast, its the last part I need to completely restore my truck.
A: What I've done in the past is contact the bigger or cheaper auto wreckers and compare their prices and then I've compared the U pick auto wreckers prices and usually I end up pulling out the seats myself.Then I clean and even soap scrub the seats , allow them to sit and dry then install them using new bolts etc if possible.
To me if you want both seats to match either you need to remove or buy two seats clean etc or have the two old seats you in it reupholstered by a auto custom upholstery shop.Really if you've the cash you could order new seats or even have them custom made for you.

Q: How do I get rid of the beeping noise in my 2009 Toyota Tacoma?
I just bought a new 2009 Toyota Tacoma and It has a beeping tone that happens every time you start the car, put the car in reverse, take your seatbelt of when your driving, and try to listen to the radio with the door open. Its enough to drive you crazy. Does anyone know how to get rid of that noise all together, or disengage it. I have only had the truck for two months and if I cant get rid of it I will seriously consider trading it in for something else.

Q: How to release the spare tire on a 2008 Toyota Tacoma?

I can not for the life of me figure out how to lower the spare tire. The manual says to use the hook end and turn, but there is nothing there to hook on to. I have played with this for a hour and it still feels like I am putting a square peg into a round hole. Is there a piece that I am missing?
A: If i am not mistaken there should be a hole as big around as a finger over or under the rear license plate. with your jack there should be an extension which has a specific key to fit the lowering mechanism. insert extension seat the key and turn counterclockwise. some have hooks instead of keys.
Q: Do 2008 Toyota tacoma trucks come with aux/mp3 outlets when purchased new?
I am curious if toyota trucks with premium sound systems 2008 specifically come with these outlets as i am told two different things. Some vehicles have them hidden so i thought someone out there might know for sure. I have a 2008 tacoma with trd off-road pkg and the jbl sound system and cannot locate this outlet if it does have it.
A: If you have one it would either be in the center console,if you have one,or under the radio where the black square blanks are.

Again, this is a company truck. I want something that will last, and don't have the time to have one custom fabricated. I just need to know a good place to get one; price wise and you-get-what-you-pay-for wise.
A: Easy go to a fabrications shop and have them build one for you. A welding shop could do the same thing. Try farm fabricators, they tend to have the best skills because of the equipment they work with and the creativity level needed for their field.

A: Synthetic Castrol or Mobil Oil are my top choices. Use 20 W 50 multigrade. As for filters try TOYOTA !!!! The price difference is not so big if compared to aftermarket brands of acceptable quality.

2004 Toyota Tacoma 5spd, cannot engage gears when engine is cold (If engine is off all gears engage) Once truck idles and warms 10-20 minutes it then will engage all gears. What can be causing this?
A: I think there's a safety device that locks all the gears so the truck will have time to correct the temperature of the engine before it can run.

A: Don't know what the exact problem is. But take the door panel off on the inside of the door. Most times it's just something that was moved out of place or alignment.

I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner. When I first start it on a cold morning, it makes a rattling noise. It generally goes away after 2-3 minutes when the engine warms up. I suspect my problem maybe a belt.....Does anyone else have any theories?

A: Belts squeal, they don't rattle.
You probably have loose exhaust shields. Put hose clamps on them to tighten them up or remove them.
Tap on them with a piece of wood to find the ones which are loose.
