Q: How to change transmission fluid in Toyota Matrix?
I want to change the transmission fluid in my '05 Toyota Matrix. Is there a filter to replace too? Ok, so I unscrew the drain plug and drain the old fluid. When I refill with new fluid, can I pour it into the tranny dipstick hole, or do I have to pump it into the fill hole underneath the car? Thanks!
A: there is no filter to replace. yes... drain the fluid through the drain plug and fill it through the dipstick tube. MAKE SURE YOU USE ONLY TOYOTA TRANSMISSION FLUID. it's called " type T-IV". don't use anything else. it may cause shifting problems later on.
what you are doing is called a "drain and fill", this should not take more than 4 quarts of fluid.
make sure to check the level with the engine running, in park and the fluid must be hot.

Q: How do you change the passenger airbag on a Toyota Matrix?
We have a toyota Matrix 07 and there is light up thing that says passenger airbag on or off it doesn't have a key hole or anything that we can find to change it i know it makes me sound kind of dumb by asking the question but if you know please let me know thanks!
A: If there's not an adult sitting in the front passenger seat, the bag usually is off, in case there's a baby seat or child there. If the light goes off when there's an adult sitting there, there's a fault, but if there is an adult there, it should be on.
Q: How much should it cost to replace the engine of a 2003 Toyota Matrix?
The engine of my 2003 toyota matrix is not working and not reparable. It needs to be completely replaced. How much should this cost (roughly)? I am unsure as to whether to get the car fixed or just sell it and start over with something new!

A: That engine is basically bullet proof... How did it break?? The only way it would die is that no one changed the oil or ran the car with no oil for awhile... I assume a rod broke, or the engine seized??
In anycase it would be cheaper to rebuild it...only if it did not suffer internal engine damage... Otherwise you are looking at over 3 or 4 grand for a low milage engine.
If the engine suffered internal damage due to neglect then a rebuild would have to be done by a very reputable, and experienced shop. Otherwise it would be wiser to just replace the engine.
You can start with something new...but I would say maintain whatever you buy properly.

A: Both low-beam bulbs are a 9006. First you will need to pop the hood. Next, find the protective housing that covers the access to the bulb behind the assembly in the engine bay. It will be a black circle with little tabs coming out of it to grip with your hands. Turn this assembly counter-clockwise (as you look at it) and remove it. Next you will depress the small tab on the connector plugged into the headlight bulb. When this is depressed, pull the plug off of the bulb. Grip the bulb and turn it counter-clockwise to remove it. You MUST unplug the bulb before you can remove it or the tab will catch on the headlight assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal. Ensure that you plug the bulb in AFTER you've rotated it back in and don't forget the weather covering. The driver's side is the same, but you will either need someone with tiny hands and strong fingers or you will have to remove the battery. An alternate method is to remove the hold-down from the top of the battery (10mm socket) and tilt the battery back. The original connections on the battery are 10mm as well.

A: Matrix came out in 2003. It's built on the same platform as the current Corolla. A newly redesigned model is due out for the 2008 year.

A: Two rather different cars, really.
I test drove the 09 Matrix and it's a very well thought out vehicle.
You can't really go wrong with a tC either. If you're still young, it's probably the way to go.
If you have to haul a lot of people and/or stuff, the Matrix is probably your best bet.
Reliability of both cars is outstanding. (Consumer Reports rates both of them very good there.)
Q: Can U put a toyota corolla stereo/radio in a toyota matrix? R they the same size/fit if they R the same year?
I need to change the cd player in a Toyota Matrix. Would a cd/tape player from a Toyota Corolla of the same year be a match? I'm having a hard time tracking down a replacement Matrix player (I want one with a tape player).
A: If they're the same size, then they should be interchangeable; but you'll have to take the brackets off the sides of the Matrix radio and attach them to the sides of the Corolla radio to mount it. The radio chassis might be the same but the two vehicles use different mounting brackets. It should be pretty easy to do.

Also, what does dremel mean? He specified that he might be able to dremel it to fit.
A: If you need to dremel it to fit, it means they probably don't fit naturally.
A Dremel is a specific name of a brand of tool. Do a search on line. It's a rotary spinning tool that can be used to sand and modify things.
Q: What kind of engine will fit in my Toyota Matrix, 2004?
I am looking for a replacement engine for my 2004 Toyota Matrix. I believe the engine type is the 1ZZ-FE with an automatic transmission. That is the engine that I need to replace. I was wondering about replacing it with the 2ZZ-GE model engine that it found in the XRS version of the Matrix. Will the 2ZZ-GE engine fit where the 1ZZ-FE was? engines?
A: Yes. You will need a donor engine, transmission and the ECU as everything is computer controlled and linked together. The swap should be pretty straight forward using factory parts.

A: 1-Make sure the odometer is showing mileage,not trip.
2-Hold the trip reset button IN,keep holding it the turn the ignition on,engine needs not running.
3-Watch the odometer,numbers turn into slashes and extinguished themselves one after another.
4-When the mileage come back on,you can let go of the reset button,it is done.

Q: How do you program a transponder key for a 2005 Toyota Matrix?
I am thinking about purchasing a key on Ebay and want to program it once it is cut.
This is a transponder key not the remote.

ok so, to program a transponder key on your matrix, you will have to bring it in to a toyota dealer because it requires the toyota scantool (techstreem) to do this.
