Q: Why does the brake and battery light show up on my toyota corolla DX?
I have an '89 Toyota Corolla DX. When I was driving home home work Friday, my battery and brake light randomly came on. Whenever I hit the brakes, sometimes the lights would go away, but then come right back on 10 seconds later. My car recently passed inspection last month, I don't understand.

New battery already installed in vehicle; car runs for a short while, then sputters until it stops. When re-starts are attempted, a clicking sound is heard. I need to remove the alternator in order to trade it in for the purchase of a new one.

A: start by taking the battery cable off,,then take and loosen all the belt,s so you can get the alternator belt off,,after you do all of this,,the take the wires off the alternator,,then remove the bolt,s holding the alternator on,,you may have to move some stuff out of your way to do this,,just take your time,,be patient and you can do this,,installation is the reverse of this,,you should be OK with this job,,it isn't too complicated,,hope this help,s

Q: does the 1996 and 1997 toyota corolla dx use the same engine?
Im shopping around for a new engine for my car, because i neglected to get an oil change and blew the motor.. oops. so... im not too sure if it makes a difference if i put a 1996 motor into a 1997 toyota or vice versa.. A: Toyota has a division that is available through most of their dealers called TRD (Toyota Racing Development). They should be able to help you with Rallye Springs that are stiffer and longer (2-3 inches) as well as proper new shocks. They carry other items as well from mild to wild. Try TRD.com on the computer- they might have a web site.

Q: I have a 1997 toyota corolla DX with a remote that has 3 buttons. What is the third?
One is to unlock, the other is to lock (and set alarm) the third button is labeled "OPT". I dont know what it does. I pressed it nothing happens. BTW.. This doesnt seem like the kind of remote that comes with the car.

A: Could be lots of things. Some possibilities: 1. Ran out of gas 2. Ignition and electrical system defunct, ie. no spark, blown fuse 3. Computer shut down, ie. ant-theft mode kicked in.

A: You have a couple of blown fuses. Your brake light fuse is blown. It is under the dash (I think), and also the guage fuse it should be in the same fuseblock.

this car doesnt have ABS so the speed sensor is controlling the speedometer...so my speedometer doesnt work at the moment.

The speedometer of my toyota corolla 1993 DX has not been workin lately. It works after the car goes up to 65 mph and then stays there and drops when the car is below 50mph. I have changed the speed sensor but still no use. Strangely though my odometer works.

A: That sounds like a problem in the speedometer movement. You may need to have it replaced or sent off for repair.

A: I can almost guarantee you that your front door speakers are 6 and half inch speakers. If you have rear speakers, they are also the same size. Good luck.
